Please ensure you read these important conditions that apply to carry-on and checked baggage:
- For liability reasons, ensure that medication, documentation, cash, jewellery, cameras and electronics/computer equipment are packed in your carry-on baggage
- Sunwing assumes no liability for perishables, valuables, jewellery, liquids, business documents, samples, money, securities, negotiable papers, electronic equipment and accessories, cameras, silverware and fragile articles
- Sunwing recommends that you purchase baggage insurance. Liability limitations as set by the Montreal Convention apply and there is a cap set by this legislation on compensation limits. Learn more about compensation and liability limitations.
- You are responsible for items carried on your person which includes carry-on baggage
- Sunwing recommends you lock your baggage. Learn more about Canadian Air Transport Security Authority’s recommendations on locking your baggage.
- Always remove old bag tags and stickers from bags before travelling - these can cause travel delays due to electronic bag scanners re-directing your bag to the wrong location
- Before leaving the check-in counter, verify that the information on your bag tag and boarding pass is correct. Keep your portion of the bag tag until you receive your bag in destination
- Weigh your bags before arriving at the airport and make sure you’re following Sunwing’s checked baggage allowance to avoid unexpected baggage fees.
- Familiarize yourself with your carrier’s Terms & Conditions (Conditions of Carriage). Learn more about Sunwing Airline’s Conditions of Carriage.
- Each item (checked or carry-on) should have a label both inside and outside with your name and destination address - Sunwing agents are happy to provide labels at no cost when you check-in
- Upon arriving at the airport, ensure you pick up your bag and not someone else's by mistake - reference the bag tag to be certain
- Baggage issues upon arrival? Please Track any delayed or damage bags.
Resort transfers to and from the airport and hotel upon arrival and departure are included in most of our travel packages and are typically standard transfer vehicles. If you're travelling with Irregular Items such as oversized baggage (some mobility aids, bicycles, sporting goods, etc.) you may be required to arrange your own transfers as the vehicles used for standard transfers will likely not be able to accommodate for weight and space. In addition, if you're travelling with someone with limited mobility, please note that transfer drivers are not able to assist with on-boarding and off-boarding passengers with disabilities. We strongly recommend anyone travelling with a mobility aid arrange for a separate transfer so that an appropriate vehicle is reserved. The cost of the transfer will depend on the distance of the transfer to your destination.
Group TravelIf you're arranging travel plans with a group that may be carrying equipment such as team sports gear, musical instruments or humanitarian items, please advise your Group Sales agent when booking so appropriate arrangements can be made well in advance to ensure a quick and efficient check-in process.
Canadian Transportation AgencyIf you would like to learn more about your rights as a traveller, please contact the Canadian Transportation Agency.
Each fare-paying passenger is permitted one carry-on item and one personal item onboard. The weight of the carry-on item cannot exceed 5 kilograms and must be no larger than 23 cm x 40 cm x 51 cm (9" x 16" x 20"). Soft-sided carry-on baggage is recommended. Any bags that exceed the weight and/or size limit must be prepared for check-in and excess baggage fees will be applied. Carry-on items may include an overnight bag or backpack. A personal item may be one of the following: purse, messenger bag, laptop bag (holding a laptop and related items) or camera bag (holding photographic equipment only).
Parents/guardians who are travelling with an infant (a child who has not reached his/her 2nd birthday and is over 8 days old) may also bring on board a diaper bag (holding only items for the care of an infant). The diaper bag must comply with the weight and size restrictions as stated above.
Learn more about medical devices and equipment that may be treated as carry-on baggage.
Please refer to the CATSA website for details on carry-on items that are permitted on Canadian flights.

- Dress in layers, especially if you're going from Canadian winter weather to southern climates. Try to wear your heaviest outfits on the plane so they don't factor into your baggage weight
- Sweaters can be rolled up and made into impromptu back pillows
- Pack your swimsuit, shorts, hat in your carry-on. If you arrive prior to check-in time at your hotel (most are 3 p.m.), you'll be able to change quickly and take advantage of the beach or pool while housekeeping is preparing your room
- Sometimes it gets cool on the plane - a pair of socks can take the chill off in the meantime
- It's always practical to pack a change of clothes in your carry-on; again, in the unlikely event your bag is delayed, you'll have a fresh outfit to wear at your hotel
- Cell phones, tablets, laptops, cameras, headphones, video cameras, memory cards and e-readers should never be packed in checked-in baggage. These items should always be in your carry-on bag
- Remember to pack their respective charging devices and extra batteries. In addition, you may want to ensure these items are packed in a way that they are easy to find (as you may have to put them in the security screening tray at the airport and perhaps turn them on for the screening agent)
- Disposable cameras may be placed in your checked-in baggage
- Avoid bringing items such as valuable jewellery and family heirlooms on your vacation
- Pack costume jewellery in your carry-on bag
- Should you choose to pack valuable items in your checked-in bag, we highly recommend you purchase baggage insurance as Sunwing is not liable for damage to or loss of jewellery
- All cash and personal and travel documents should be kept on your person, or safely stowed in your carry-on provided it does not leave your sight at any time. Passports, visas, proof of citizenship, other personal identification, credit cards, driver's license, traveller's cheques, etc. are in that category
- Please check expiry dates on passports and credit cards prior to travel - some countries will not permit entry if the traveller's passport expires within six months of their return date
- It may be worthwhile picking up some small bills in your destination country's currency for tipping and incidentals
- Pack a pen. You'll be filling out travel documents (tourist cards, for instance) and cabin crew usually don't have extras
- Reading material. Just in case you've seen the movie.
- Gum - helps with blocking ears on ascent and descent of the plane
- Reading glasses, sunglasses, prescription glasses
- Put your car keys in your carry-on. If your bag is delayed on your return flight you'll want access to your keys
- Take a photo of your parking spot number/level with your phone - after a week or two away, you may not remember exactly where you parked the car
- For added comfort and convenience, Sunwing offers fleece blankets and headsets available for purchase onboard. Ask you crew cabin for details.

Some random helpful packing tips
- Include an identifier in all your bags in the unlikely event you are separated from them. This is simply a piece of paper placed on the top of your packed items with your name, flight #, destination resort name and cell phone number so authorities can contact you when your bag is located
- Make photocopies of important documents such as your passport, credit cards, driver's license, e-docs, etc. You may want to put one set in your checked bag, another in your carry-on and leave another set with someone at home. If these items are lost while in destination, you'll have enough critical details to facilitate getting them replaced
- Cross-pack. Exchange essential clothing items with others in your travel party. This way, in the unlikely event one of your bags is delayed, you won't be left without a change of clothes
- Roll your clothing. Rolling up garments minimizes the space they take up in your suitcase and also reduces wrinkling. Another method is to purchase compression bags from your local discount outlet. These plastic bags are great for making the most of limited space and protect your garments from leaking containers
- Pack liquids (shampoo bottles for instance) in plastic bags to safeguard your belongings in case one of them leaks
- If you're travelling with others, cross-reference on the essentials... does everyone need to bring a flat-iron or can you make do with one and save space and weight?
If travelling on a cruise, keep your cruise documents handy for security screening and boarding the ship Check with your cruise line for any events that may require additional packing - such as formal wear, or for example, a black & white dance party You might want to bring anti-seasickness remedies, such as bands or pills Pack some guidebooks if you're not familiar with the ports of call
